What a terrible tragedy!
His loss has had a lot of effect to his family, friends and most importantly the black community living in the US. Judging by the now popular slogan, “Black lives matter!” after the recent deaths of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, LA and Philandro Castille in the suburban St.Paul, Minnesota, both shoot dead by police officers.
Back to Trayvon Martin gunned down only at the tender age of 17, George Zimmerman the police officer charged with his murder under second degree manslaughter in July 2013, was recently punched by a man who stated that he was boasting about killing Trayvon Martin.
The incident happened last month, August 2016.
All this was witnessed at a restaurant in Florida by both officials and observers at the scene.
According to different witness accounts, one group was saying that Zimmerman was approaching people at the restaurant and acknowledging who he was and what he was well known for.
Another group claimed that he was showing off his driving license so as gain recognition and bragging about how he shot Martin, which eventually got him punched in the face.
After this incident, Mr. Zimmerman called a 911 dispatcher claiming that his life was in danger and that three or four cops were required at the scene immediately.
It must have been quite a battle because according to Zimmerman, the man could not get away from him, though his friends were trying to stop the fight.
If you follow it up over the past few years since the untimely death of Trayvon, the 32-year old has had a lot of high profile run-ins with the law, such as a road rage incident which got him shot and being arrested twice for domestic violence, after throwing a wine bottle at his then-girlfriend’s head, but the charges were dropped on that case.
