Colossill Model Of The Week: Daphnée Renae
Colossill: Hello how are you? Thanks for taking the time out of your day to allow us to interview you.
Daphnée Renae: Thank you for having me!
Colossill: Tell the Colossill viewers out there where you’re from and where do you currently reside?
Daphnée Renae: I was born and raised in Tallahassee, FL and that’s where I still live.
Colossill: When and why did you get started? Was it for the glamour? The money? Pure kicks?
Daphnée Renae: I started modeling about 2 years ago. My friend from high school wanted me to model his clothing line and I haven’t stopped since. I was just doing it as a favor but I ended up liking it, it boosted my confidence.
Colossill: Your ethnicity?
Daphnée Renae: I’m Haitian American.
Colossill: What are your career goals, hobbies, and zodiac sign?
Daphnée Renae: I want to make it big as a model and I want to own my own business one day. I’m a cancer, and I’m very much like my sign. In my free time, I like to watch Netflix documentaries.
Colossill: What is something that inspires you?
Daphnée Renae: My parents. They immigrated here from Haiti with only $1,000 and they made it. So it really inspires me to push myself and provide for myself.
Colossill: Who are some of your favorite models and designers, and why?
Daphnée Renae: Right now I’m loving Chanel Iman. Her look is just perfect in my eyes! I really love Tom Ford’s new spring collection. The colors are amazing!
Colossill: Which fashion magazines, websites, blogs, and catalogs do you visit most often?
Daphnée Renae: I don’t really read magazines anymore. I really see everything I want to see on Instagram and Twitter. Social media really keeps me up to date.
Colossill: How would you describe your style?
Daphnée Renae: I would say eclectic. One day I’ll wear a snapback and jordans, but then the next I’m in full glam with Louboutins and a BCBG dress! I like to always change my style. I don’t follow a bunch of trends I just wear whatever I think is cute. Like last week, I wore a pink faux fur jacket I had in middle school and it still fit!
Colossill: Do you have any other experience in the fashion industry (writing, photography, marketing, etc.)?
Daphnée Renae: I’ve only modeled.
Colossill: How do you prepare for a modeling shoot?
Daphnée Renae: I go hard in the gym the week leading up to it and the day of my shoot I only eat fruit.
Colossill: What is fun and rewarding about modeling?
Daphnée Renae: I had a really low self-esteem prior to modeling and I never found myself attractive. Once I started seeing my modeling pictures it really made me realize I am pretty and it boosted my confidence. It keeps my spirits high!
Colossill: What advice do you have for other aspiring models?
Daphnée Renae: Don’t do anything you’ll regret. It’s so easy to let someone dictate what kind of shoots to do and in the end, you might not have wanted to do it. Only do what you’re comfortable with!
