Brock Turner and his parents were too scared to go home Friday, after picking their son up from the airport. Turner’s family tells police they fear for their son’s safety. But this isn’t the first time this group of protesters has surrounded the Turner house, and they tell us it won’t be the last…
They are so afraid, after months of armed “Anonymous” protesters and others have swarmed their house on several occasions, that they have asked cops to help them “deal with protesters and others who might do him harm” according to TMZ.
Law enforcement sources in Ohio also tell TMZ that they’re “tracking social media to monitor any threatening activity — whether it be from Sugarcreek Township residents — many of whom are unhappy about a sex offender in their ‘hood — to angry outsiders.”
But law enforcement has been vague about actual threats. One source told TMZ, “Everybody is always concerned about death threats.”
At the protest yesterday evening, the Chief of Police for Sugarcreek Township, where the Turner family relocated after fleeing their native Oakwood, Ohio, approached the protest organizer Micah Naziri who he knew by first name from previous protests.
“The police have been surprisingly, albeit passively, supportive,” Micah said. “They can’t come out and say they agree with us, for professional reasons, but we have been given reason to believe they do.”
He adds that “there have been no threats” to Turner or his family, adding that “no one here is breaking any law in protesting him, even militantly.”
In spite of being armed to the teeth with a giant combat knife, and a Class 3 short barrel rifle (complete with magazine drum and “SilencerCo” sound suppressor), the police gave those protesters who described themselves as “militant feminists,” no problems.
Not all of the protesters were affiliated with Anonymous. A wide array of people have turned out to the several protests organized by Naziri and his friend Jaimes Campbell.
Brock was released from jail Friday morning after only serving three months for sexual assault. While he will have to register as a sex offender, the sentence requested by the prosecutor was six years. The judge effectively slapped the victim in the face by giving Turner only 6 month.
